On 16 and 17 May 2019, the French IAS Resource Center and the British Animal Health Agency, who are leading on the EU-funded RAPID Life Project, organized two cross-border exchange days on the biosecurity of marine and freshwater environments.
50 participants, including representatives from France, Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom presented the challenges of biological invasions in marine and freshwater environments, highlighting the importance of implementing biosecurity measures. Based on presentations of methods and good practices in these different countries, the exchanges between participants, largely facilitated by a simultaneous translation service, made it possible to identify synergies and future collaborations.
Sharing knowledge and experience between countries could make a real difference in the effectiveness of national policies and actions on the management of invasive alien species.
